Each month, our Good Stewards receive a copy of Boot Prints, an internal company newsletter. In every issue, one employee is spotlighted. Our spotlighted employee for July is Anna Cook! Anna started off at GSC as a Communications Associate and recently transitioned into her current role as a Portfolio Media Associate. She works remotely from her home state of North Carolina. Learn more about her below!

Q. What does being a Good Steward mean to you?
A. Being a Good Steward for me means embodying the tenants of “GRACE” and striving each day to do my job well while uplifting and supporting my team. I believe energy is contagious and love the enthusiasm and dedication among GSC’ers!
Q. What piece of advice would you give your younger self?
A. I’d tell myself to not take everything so
seriously, allow myself to have fun responsibly and to step outside of the box, find people doing what you want to do (either personally or professionally) and reach out to them! It can feel so overwhelming but so many people LOVE to talk about what they do and are happy to offer guidance or advice. Oh, and start that 401k investing on day 1 of your first job no matter how small your contributions may be. Time goes fast!

Q. What's one thing people don’t know about you that they would be surprised to find out?
A. I spent the first 8 years of my career working in local news as a reporter and morning news anchor. It was my absolute dream job until my dreams changed and I’ll be forever grateful for the experience I gained in those roles.
Q. What do you think makes our team culture unique?
A. The GSC culture is heavily protected and enthusiastically embraced by our leadership and staff. It is so incredible to be surrounded by co-workers (even virtually) who are committed to enjoying their job and doing it so well. I gave a speech at my high school graduation as Student Body President 15 years ago in which I said “let us strive not for success, but rather to be of value… to our friends, family, co-workers and community.”
I still think about that line often and ask myself – what’s the value here? Does it align with my goals? And I truly believe the leadership of Good Steward does the same and is intentional in keeping us on track.

Q. If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
A. Teleportation. Lunch in Italy? There. Sunset in Mexico? Yes, please. Home in time to sleep in my own bed? The perfect day.
Q. What’s the last song you listened to?
A. “Where is the cat?” by Super Simple Songs. I have two small kids who run the car Spotify playlist :D
Thank you for being a part of our team, Anna.
Come back next month to learn about a new Good Steward!
