August Boot Prints: Lydia Skoglund

Each month, our Good Stewards receive a copy of Boot Prints, an internal company newsletter. In every issue, one employee is spotlighted. Our spotlighted employee for August is Lydia Skoglund! Lydia is a Communications Associate who works remotely from her home in Minnesota. Learn more about her below!

Q. What does being a Good Steward mean to you?

A. Being a Good Steward means going the extra mile. No matter the task, Good Stewards are always looking for a way to do it better. We don’t work with a “one-size-fits-all” mindset. If there’s a way we can better serve our clients, landowners, community members, and even our own teams, we’re going to find it. At times, our methods seem unorthodox, but that’s because we’re unwilling to settle for the “standard” option. At the heart of everything we do, Good Stewards are constantly working to ensure that the projects we work on are developed in the most respectful, responsible, and culturally competent manner. We recognize that rural communities each come with their own unique characteristics and thus require a unique approach. Because of our individual connections to rural communities, each Good Steward has a true love and care for our work. This passion drives us and is woven throughout everything we do!

Q. If you could have any superpower, what would it be?

A. The power to control probabilities. What's the probability that I'll find $20 in my pocket today? 100%!

Last year Lydia used her birthday privileges to "force" her family to attend the Twin Cities Bloody Mary Festival with her!

Q. What is your favorite part of working at GSC?

A. I have loved flexing my creative muscles at GSC! Since joining the team, my ideas and suggestions have not only been welcomed but encouraged. Working with a group of such talented, creative individuals that are willing to listen to everyone’s ideas and offer their own advice has been amazing. The respect, curiosity, and

open-mindedness required to maintain a work environment where everyone can ideate freely is not always easy to come by, yet I’ve seen it consistently from my team.

Q. What, if anything, are you currently binge-watching or reading?

A. Currently binge-watching Love Island USA to catch up on the latest season!

Q. What do you think makes our team culture unique?

A. The thing that makes GSC’s team culture unique is the team itself! When asked what we love about GSC, I’ve heard everyone say, “the people”. It is certainly not a coincidence that this answer is given time and time again. Our team is the true definition of collaborative. No matter their title, department, or tenure at GSC, everyone is treated as a true project partner. We go into each project knowing that every team member has the same goal in mind – to support and guide the responsible, respectful, and ethical development of renewable energy projects. On top of the hard work and effort that we put in each day, we still make time to build meaningful relationships with our clients, community members, and each other, plus we have fun doing it!

Q. How long have you been with the company?

A. It'll be two years this fall!

A. "This Must Be The Place" by the Talking Heads
