September Boot Prints Employee Spotlight: Emma Thompson

Updated: Sep 16

Each month our Good Stewards receive a copy of “Boot Prints;” an internal company newsletter. In every issue, one employee is spotlighted. Our spotlighted employee for the month of September is Emma Thompson! Emma is a Marketing Associate and works out of our headquarters office, she has been with Good Steward Consulting since June of 2023. Learn more about her below!

Q: What does being a Good Steward mean to you?

A: “Being a good steward, to me, reflects the Girl Scout Law, which has become a guide for how I try to live my life: I will do my best to be honest and fair, friendly and helpful, considerate and caring, courageous and strong, and responsible for what I say and do, and to respect myself and others, respect authority, use resources wisely, make the world a better place, and be a sister to every Girl Scout.”

Q: How has your role evolved over time since you’ve been here?

A: “I started as an Assistant Communications Manager, being more of a floater and assisting Teresa, Director of Operations, while moonlighting in the Marketing department. I got to do a few recons, and some other Operations work before marketing slowly started to take over my everyday work; creatives is where we found my talents are used best:)”

Q: What is your favorite part of working at our company?

A: “I love how we all are from or understand rural communities. The relaxed, yet ambitious, attitude GSC has reflects the personalities of a lot of people I looked up to and groups I was in growing up in Small Town, MN. I also appreciate how we come to work looking like we live in a small town instead of needing to fake a "big city, corporate" wardrobe, as that would just be us kidding ourselves and others.”

Q: What is one thing that you wish people knew about your job?

A: “I would want more people to understand what goes into a social media post, a newsletter, a website, and more. Working in marketing, specifically social media, is not just staring at a screen all day (okay, maybe it is…) and scrolling through social platforms all day.”

Q: What’s one thing on your bucket list?

A: “Visit Madagascar - my study abroad trip to the island was canceled due to the pandemic:/”

Q: What, if anything, are you currently binge-watching? Or reading?

A: “I blow through books and read a lot of different genres. I'm currently reading Democracy or Else by Jon Favreau, Jon Lovett, and Tommy Veitor, but in my TBR (to be read) pile are The Sorority by Nancy Bush, Daydream by Hannah Grace, Just the Nicest Couple by Mary Kubica, and the Nightingale by Kristin Hannah.”

Q: If you could have any superpower, what would it be?

A: “To freeze time - I can have the time to rest and recharge without actually having to take the time to take a break.”

Congratulations, Emma!

Stay tuned for next month's Boot Prints Employee Spotlight!
