March Boot Prints: Teresa Nicholson

Each month, our Good Stewards receive a copy of Boot Prints, an internal company newsletter. In every issue, one employee is spotlighted. Our spotlighted employee for March is Teresa Nicholson! Stacy is a Senior Communications Manager who works from ger home in Indiana. She joined Good Steward Consulting full-time in the spring of 2018 before taking a job at her Alma Mater and then returning in November of 2021! Learn more about her below!

Q: What does being a Good Steward mean to you?

A: Being a Good Steward, to me, means doing your best all the time to be a good partner and participant in all you do in a genuine and honest way as well as with integrity and respect for others. Stewardship is the responsible planning, management, and care of something entrusted to one’s care, such as resources, property, or environment and acting as a caretaker for the benefit of others or future generations. Therefore, being a Good Steward is the embodiment of all of these things through my daily conversations and actions in my work and personal channels.

Q: How long have you been with the company?

A: In totality, approx. 5 years and 3 months as of February 2026. I was one of the original employees when Mariah started focusing on the energy industry in spring 2018. She lured me away from my economic development career to work in the energy industry and it was a good decision. I was with GSC until October 2019 when my Alma Mater came calling and asked me to run their non-profit foundation. I had always wanted to work in education, and at one time thought about being a teacher, so I took the chance. I worked in higher education as the foundation director for 2 years, but I missed working with Mariah and the team at GSC and in the energy development field so I came back in November 2021 and have zero regrets. These are my people and where I’m meant to be.

Q: What piece of advice would you give to younger staff?

A: Never apologize for being honest and having integrity; you’ll find throughout your career that at times those will be the only 2 things that will get you through some tough situations. Don’t make yourself small or quiet if you make someone uncomfortable or jealous – that’s their problem, not yours. Finally, never make your job your life. Putting in the work and time to be the best at what you do is necessary but always be mindful of also maintaining separation between work and your personal life as your personal relationships are lifelong and a career is important, but it has an end date.

Q: If you could have any superpower, what would it be?

A: I would be able to teleport to different destinations. Since I don’t fly, teleporting would be awesome because I could go have supper with my granddaughters in northern MN or Rochester, MN and then teleport home to go to sleep in my own bed….cuz I do not sleep unless I’m in my own bed. And I could visit all the places I don’t want to fly to by teleporting there and back – Egyptian pyramids, Paris, Milan, Alaska, etc.

Q: If you had three wishes, what would they be?

A: 1) Never run out of money and have as much as I choose whenever I need it and for whatever I need it for – day to day living, large impulse purchases, and lots of charitable giving to many organization doing work with homeless, children, animals, veterans,

addiction/mental health issues, and community foundations supporting local projects.

2) Build a couple new houses – one here, one in northern MN on a lakeshore or along a river as a vacation home, and one out in the mountains of Colorado as a vacation home.

3) To cure cancer and other terminal illnesses so people can live long healthy lives.

Q: What do you enjoy most about working here?

A: I genuinely love my job because I get to work with all of our team members and mentor, train and educate, be a resource, and help direct our team’s work and efforts. I also love the company culture which our HR Manager and I work very hard to create and maintain as well as being part of a small growing company because as staff we get to help mold the future of GSC. What’s not to like?!

Q: What’s the last song you listened to?

A: The Weekend, “Blinding Lights”

Thank you for being a part of our team, Teresa.

Come back next month to learn about a new Good Steward!
