Assistant Graphic Designer
Responsibilities & Duties

POSITION SUMMARY: The Assistant Graphic Designer is responsible for the completeness, accuracy, and order of company assets and outbound final files. Utilizing your attention to detail and creative eye, the Assistant Graphic Designer supports the Graphic Designer, functioning as a production artist, by adapting creative concepts to alternate file types, sizes, or forms and builds out final technical files for print or web.   Day-to-day production work spans traditional print, digital, and interactive projects.  He/she/they will be expected to perform various tasks, help keep long-term projects on track, and handle more urgent requirements for all members of the Senior Leadership Team (President, VP Finance, and VP Operations). This person is a self-starter, with a positive attitude, who enjoys working with people to achieve tremendous results.  A team player who loves a good challenge, has a high level of integrity, works diligently to exceed expectations, and is willing to follow and implement someone else’s vision while having fun with colleagues and clients. He/she/they understand the need for GSC to consistently deliver the HIGHEST quality service and work product.

POSITION SKILL SET:

  • Basic understanding of Brand and comfortable working in and following brand guidelines.

  • Proficient knowledge of Adobe CC (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Acrobat), Office, CMS (Wix), and Canva.

  • Knowledge of creating and working with print and digital templates, style sheets, formatting copy, photo editing, and the printing process.

  • Deadline-driven, detail-oriented, strong organizational and follow-up skills.

  • The ability to multi-task while maintaining a high level of accuracy and meeting deadlines.

  • Able to work independently, with oversight, and collaborate with others when necessary.

  • Portfolio that demonstrates an understanding of design, layout, typography, and photo editing.

  • Experience with animation/motion graphics is a plus.

  • Enjoy working in a fun environment.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:​

  • Collaborate closely with the Graphic Designer, Communications Specialist, and Communication Managers.

  • Prepare final files - ready for both print and digital.

  • Search and maintain stock photography/art for current and future projects.

  • Able to search out appropriate vendors per print job.

  • Follow a production timeline to ensure tasks are being completed efficiently and on time.

  • Troubleshoot problems as they arise and check work for accuracy.

  • Additional duties as assigned.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • 2+ years of experience as an entry-level designer or production artist in print and digital design including marketing collateral, direct mail, social media graphics, email, and web design.

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Graphic Design or Visual Communications.

  • Ability to maintain regular working hours, M-F 8-5 PM Central Standard Time.

  • Valid driver’s license a must.

  • Background check required.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 with proficiency in Word is a must.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer

  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at a time.
